SETTING THE SCENE
Before you start make sure you are in a quiet and comfortable environment. Also make sure you have enough space. Try to use the same space everytime so that it becomes your sacred space. Sit cross legged on the floor. Light candles, incence or play soft music to soften your mood and allow you to focus. Try focusing on a candle flame and meditate for a few minutes, relax your breathing and try to drop all conscious thoughts.

Sandalwood incence is good for pyschic or healing powers and pine or rosemary for clarity of thought. Draw a circle of smoke in a clockwise direction over the tarot cards to empower them.
Place one crystal in each direction that is north, south, east and west surrounding yourself. If you are doing a reading for someone else, you could pass a crystal pendulum over the cards to draw out any negative energies.
